Dave Clark Five, 1964
They played Vancouver a few months after The Beatles. I remember the debate of who was better. I seem to remember saying, at the time, I liked the Dave Clark Five better. And then, ten years later, not remembering a tune by them. Big beat. Glad All Over, Bits and Pieces, Catch Us If You Can.
They had four number one hits in Vancouver. Funny how memory blots things out.
And judging by their interview they didn't endear themselves to the press.

Johnny Horton's birthday
Well I can't seem to get a video to embed on this blog. Not sure why.
But it's Johnny Horton's birthday.
And a local guy, back in 1959, was pissed at Johnny's Battle of New Orleans hit for historical inaccuracies. Doncha just hate historical inaccuracies in pop songs?

The Velvet Underground, Columbian 1968
An interview from the Columbian newspaper from 1968. Quotes attributed to John Cale and Lou Reed. And a follow up article on them by writer Simon Holwill.

Velvet Underground, Retinal Circus, 1968
An interview with the Velvet Underground from Poppin magazine, circa 1968. Must have been the June shows, and not the late October ones, as John Cale was still with the band.
oh crap, another blog
Mostly music, mostly local (Vancouver, BC) area. Gonna be sporadic. Just a place to stick things that don't fit in the other blog.
